Who qualifies
- VA disability
- At least 100% service-connected disability
- Ownership
- House owned by the eligible owner in fee or jointly with a spouse. An unremarried surviving spouse who resides in the dwelling and acquires ownership may continue the exemption (reapplication required).
- Residency
- The house must be the veteran's legal residence and qualify for the 4% owner-occupied assessment ratio.

Requires the property to already have the 4% legal-residence classification. Surviving-spouse continuation extends to spouses of law-enforcement officers, firefighters, and Armed Forces members who died in the line of duty.
