Lowest Property Tax Counties in the U.S.
The 100 counties below have the lowest effective property tax rates of any county in a state this site has verified, using the same ACS-derived methodology as every other rate on this site: median real estate taxes paid divided by median home value. A low effective rate does not necessarily mean a low total tax bill — it can reflect high home values relative to a modest tax levy, or a local government that leans more on sales or income tax instead. Counties at the ACS top-code ceiling are excluded, since a capped county's true rate can't be precisely ranked.
