Amendment 79 Assessed Value Freeze for Seniors (65+) and Disabled Homeowners
Who qualifies
- Age
- 65 or older
- Income
- No income limit. Eligible if the homestead owner is age 65 or older OR is disabled (the freeze is not restricted to seniors).
- Ownership
- Owner-occupant who is 65 or older or disabled. The freeze does not transfer to a subsequent owner and ends when the property is sold or no longer qualifies as the homestead.
- Residency
- Property must be the owner's principal residence (homestead) in Arkansas.
How much it saves
How to apply
- Application required: Yes
- Deadline: Apply with the county assessor's office (no fixed statewide annual deadline; establish the freeze after qualifying).
- Renewal: automatic — The freeze continues indefinitely while the owner continues to own and occupy the homestead; no annual renewal.
Combining with other exemptions
Can be held together with the homestead property tax credit. Disabled owners qualify regardless of age; class recorded as senior because age 65+ is the most common qualifier (disability is an alternative path).

Exemption rules and amounts are summarized from official statutes and state tax-agency sources as of each program's verified date and can change by legislative session.
